After processing your mortgage application they will write or phone your employer to get confirmation of your declared income. In addition, to establish creditworthiness, they will want you to confirm in writing whether you have ever been made bankrupt, whether you have any County Court Judgments (CCJ’s), for debts and what you financial status is. This will be checked by their credit referencing department or a third party. Financial status is measured by a series of multiple choice questions on the mortgage application form related to income, job stability and frequency of employment. You will need to produce original bank statements, pay slips, P60 and utility bills simply to prove your application is true and correct.
